Frequently Asked Questions
Choose based on your basket’s available headspace and preferred screen structure. This model uses a 1mm single-layer design, while the 0.8mm version has two layers and takes up slightly less space above the coffee.
Choose according to your filter basket’s internal diameter. For a 54mm Breville or Sage setup, check the 53mm option against your actual basket. The screen should lie flat without wedging against the walls. If you use a replacement basket, check its dimensions separately before ordering.
Remove the screen and check whether the portafilter locks in normally. If it does, confirm that the screen sits flat and reduce your coffee dose slightly to create more clearance below the shower screen. Do not force the handle or tamp harder to make it fit.
Distribute and tamp the coffee first, then lay the screen flat on top of the finished puck. It goes above the coffee, not underneath it. You do not need to tamp again over the screen before brewing.
A screen can change shot flow, particularly when headspace is limited. Check that it is clean, sits flat, and has enough clearance above it. If those checks are satisfactory, try a small grind adjustment. Change one variable at a time and compare both shot time and taste.
It can help spread incoming water and reduce disturbance at the puck surface, but it cannot fix uneven distribution or an unsuitable grind. Crema also depends on your beans, freshness, and brewing conditions. Keep your usual puck preparation routine and judge improvements by taste.
Yes. Let the machine release pressure and allow the screen to cool enough to handle, then remove it before discarding the grounds. This keeps the reusable screen out of the knock box and makes it easier to rinse separately.
Yes, this model is listed as dishwasher-safe. Rinse with warm water after each use to remove loose grounds. If coffee oils remain, use a mild cleaning solution suitable for stainless steel and rinse thoroughly. When using a dishwasher, secure the screen so it cannot fall through the rack.
